April, 2012
We attended the Horatio Alger Distinquished Americans event in Washington, D.C. this weekend. It was a time of celebrating the 65th year. The cherry blossoms were gone, but the city was still lovely and the weather was very pleasant. We met some lovely new friends and met many of the 104 National Scholars who received $20,000 scholarships. One H.A.member gave each student a laptop and one of the inductees for this year gave each of them an I-Pad. To learn about the Horatio Alger Assn., they have an excellent website in case you are interested. Perhaps you know a disadvantaged student who might benefit from applying for the scholarship for next year.
